Jenny Mansfield matriculated at St Mary’s School in Johannesburg in 1967. In 1970 she qualified with a Transvaal Teachers’ Diploma (TTD) at the Johannesburg College of Education, specialising in Senior Primary Education. For five years she was a full-time Grade 4 class teacher at St Stithians Boys’ Preparatory School and for six years she did full-time relief (one term or more) and relief teaching at St Stithians Boys’ Preparatory School and the Ridge. Between 1996 and 2000 Jenny founded and ran the Jenel Education Centre for extra lessons with a co-teacher. They specialised in English and Maths for Grades 5-7.

During the following four years Jenny completed a creative writing course and a novel for children aged 10-13 years: Phantom’s Cane: an Oglebrook Story (available as and e-book), while doing freelance editing and proofreading of primary school educational books (Grade 4-7 Maths; EMS; English) for Heinemann Educational Publishers and Nasou via Afrika, and editing a novel The Cirillian Flame by Mark P Davies, which has subsequently been published. In the next three years she project-managed the planning, design and building of two houses. Since 2007 Jenny Mansfield has been managing a property portfolio, has completed Basic Editing and Proofreading Course with John Linnegar and she attended one week Writing for Children course with Reviva Schermbrucker.
